O Lord and Master of My Life!

O Lord and Master of my life!
Take from me the spirit of sloth,
faintheartedness,
lust of power
and idle talk.

But give me rather the spirit of chastity,
humility,
patience,
and love to my servant.

Yes, O Lord and King!

Grant me to see my own errors
and not to judge my brother.
For you are blessed unto ages of ages.
Amen.

Ephrem the Syrian, Fourth Century, A.D.

  1. We say it during the Great Lent-this year from March the 10th through April the 18th-accompanied by three full prostrations.
    The Romanian version:

Amin.

    Metanie una”
